On Monday, the Court of Arbitation for Sport issued a media release announcing that the Canada Soccer and the Canadian Olympic Committee had filed an appeal of the Canadian WNT’s 6 point deduction for the group stage of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Canada is seeking either a cancellation or at least a reduction of the points deduction.
A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, July 30th, with a final decision expected “around midday” Paris time on Wednesday, July 31st.

Française de Football & Comité National Olympique et Sportif Français & Federación Colombiana de Fútbol & Comité Olímpico ColombianoThe application was filed by the Canadian Olympic Committee and Canada Soccer (the Applicants) in relation to the six-point deduction imposed on the Canadian women’s soccer team for the football tournament at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. The six-point deduction, as well as one-year suspensions from taking part in any football-related activity for officials Beverly Priestman, Joseph Lombardi and Jasmine Mander, were imposed by the FIFA Appeal Committee in its decision of 27 July 2024 after it established that breaches of the FIFA regulations applicable to the Olympic football tournament concerning the prohibition on flying drones over training sites had occurred.
The Applicants seek a decision from the CAS ad hoc Division either cancelling or reducing the points deduction. The Applicants do not request relief with respect to the one-year suspensions imposed on
the officials. The Panel of arbitrators is being constituted. A hearing with the parties is likely to take place on 30 July 2024 and the final decision should be issued at around midday on 31 July 2024.
