Bay FC: Outside back Alyssa Malonson signs on for 3 more years
On Thursday, Bay FC signed the 25-year-old defender to a three year contract extension, for the 2025 to 2027 NWSL seasons. Malonson has featured in 14 regular season matches so far, starting 8 of those matches. (August 29th press release) Prior to Bay FC, Malonson was with the Reign for 2 seasons, but only saw action in 4 regular seasons matches and was loaned to a Danish team for the second half of the 2022 NWSL season.
Kansas City Current: Recently acquired center back Alana Cook extends for 3 seasons
After being with the club for not quite 40 days, Cook is now under contract for over 1200 days, through the end of the 2027 NWSL season. (August 29th press release)
Orlando Pride: Rookie forward Alex Kerr has been “waived”
On Thursday, the Pride “waived” Kerr, “allowing the player to pursue playing opportunities overseas”. This sounds like a mutual termination, though the press release did not use those words.
During the 2024 regular season, Kerr was on the bench for 7 matches and only appeared once, as a late sub. In the Summer Cup, Kerr started twice and scored 1 goal. (NWSL stats)
