Update (28-Mar-2025): Defender Izzy Dalke and forward Elayna Kocher suffered injuries (back and knee, respectively) during the preparatory camp in Florida and have been replaced by defender Gracie Milam and forward Audrey McKeen. (U.S. Soccer press release)
For its qualifiers to the 2025 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup, the Under-17 United States Women’s Youth National Team will have all five age-eligible players from its squad for the previous U-17 WWC, including two professionals and goalkeeper Evan O’Steen who won the Golden Glove at that tournament.
The two professionals, who both now play in the National Women’s Soccer League, are midfielder Kimmi Ascanio of the San Diego Wave and forward Micayla Johnson of the Chicago Stars. The other two returning players are both midfielders: Jaiden Rodriguez, who is set to play collegiate soccer for Southern California later this year, and Scottie Antonucci, whose post-secondary plans remain officially enigmatic.
In addition to O’Steen, who will be playing for Florida State, and Rodriguez, four other players have reclassified and will begin their NCAA careers in 2025: Forward Ashlyn Anderson at Florida State, midfielder Riley Kennedy at the University of North Carolina, defender Cecil Pearl at Virginia, and forward Nyanya Touray at Florida State.
The USA’s qualifying path for this year’s FIFA U-17 WWC involves just three round-robin group matches, which will be played over six days from Monday, March 31, to Saturday, April 5. The USA’s opponents are Trinidad & Tobago, Honduras, and El Salvador.
The USA must win its Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Qualifiers group in order to ensure a spot in the FIFA U-17 WWC. Alternatively, a second-place finish in the group could be good enough, but only if the team has the best record (points, goal difference, et cetera) compared to the second-place teams from the other two qualifying groups.
All 21 players selected by head coach Katie Schoepfer were born in 2008, which is the older cutoff year for this year’s FIFA U-17 WWC.
At least four of the 19 non-pros trained with NWSL teams this year: Forward Ashlyn Anderson, who was with Gotham FC (Instagram), midfielder Scottie Antonucci, who was with Angel City (roster release), goalkeeper Evan O’Steen, who was with the Kansas City Current (roster release), and defender Cecil Pearl, who was with the San Diego Wave (press release).
Midfielder Lauren Hemann of Bethesda SC is a surprise inclusion as she has no known previous U.S. youth national team call-ups.
Excluding Hemann, San Diego Wave midfielder Kimmi Ascanio is the only player who did not attend one of the three previous U-17 camps this cycle: September 2024, January 2025, and February 2025. The four other returnees from the last cycle only attended the January camp this cycle.
Just four players attended all three prior camps this cycle: Defender Natalie Chudowsky and midfielder Charlee Siria, plus forwards Elayna Kocher and Nyanya Touray.

Training Players
Ahead of the qualifiers, the U-17 USWYNT will train in Southern Florida with five additional players who will serve as both training players and potential alternates if any of the 21 first-choice players are injured or are otherwise unable to compete in the qualifiers. Per Concacaf’s regulations for these qualifiers (PDF), a player may be replaced up to 24 hours ahead of their team’s first match.
The five named training players are as follows:
- Goalkeeper (1): Hannah Folliard (Galaxy SC; 2026, Georgia; Plainfield, Ill.)
- Defenders (2): Marlee Raymond (United Futbol Acad.; 2025, Penn State; Cumming, Ga.), Gracie Milam (Lou Fusz Athletic; 2026, Florida; Saint Charles, Mo.)
- Midfielder (1): Brooke Bunton (Jacksonville FC; 2025, Southern Methodist; Green Cove Springs, Fla.)
- Forward (1): Audrey McKeen (Virginia Dev. Acad.; 2027; Vienna, Va.)
In the press release, Bunton is described as a forward, but for her three previous call-ups, she was listed as a midfielder, which is also her club position. In February, she officially committed to play for Southern Methodist, starting this fall.
Of the five training players, only defender Marlee Raymond was not called into one of the three previous U-17 camps this cycle. Her last call up was in April 2024 for an overseas camp with the U-16 USWYNT in Turkey.
