NWSL: 2025 USA TV/Streaming Schedule — Week 2, with Referee Assignments

Week 2 of the 2025 National Women’s Soccer League features a pair of matches between last season’s top four teams:

On Saturday, last year’s #2, Washington Spirit, hosts Kansas City who finished fourth in 2024.
Then, on Sunday, the 2024 NWSL Champions and Shield winner, Orlando Pride, visit the NJ/NY Gotham FC, which finished third in last season’s table.

In the USA, three of the weekend’s seven matches will be televised. In addition to the Saturday ION doubleheader, one match on Sunday will be shown on ESPN 2. All seven matches can be streamed live: Five via free services (NWSL+ and ION) and two via paid services (Prime Video and ESPN+).

Sunday’s match between the Chicago Stars and the Houston Dash was originally scheduled to kick-off at a later time, but was moved up to its currently scheduled start time of 3:00 p.m. EDT (noon PDT) back in February (Chicago Stars press release).

NWSL: 2025 Regular Season — Opening Day Rosters (Updated)

Wednesday, March 12, was the deadline for the fourteen teams of the 2025 National Women’s Soccer League to publish their initial regular season rosters, which are required to have at least 22 and no more than 26 active players.

This post is a compilation of those rosters, presented in a standard format. For each club, there are three separate lists, organized by position:

Active Roster: Players who should be available for gameday roster selection. However, some players may have minor injuries that do not necessitate being named to an injury/illness list and could be unavailable. In most cases, players that have short-term or other non-standard contracts have been noted, but some may have been missed as not all clubs provided such details in their roster press releases. Additionally, players who occupy international slots have been noted.
Extended Absences: Players who are unavailable due to injury or other reasons. This includes players on the season-ending and 45-day injury/illness lists as well as those on maternity leave and mental health leave. (This list also includes players who have not yet reported to their respective clubs. It is unclear whether those players count toward the number of active players.)
Out on Loan: Players who have been loaned to another team for at least the start of the 2025 regular season. The club that they are currently playing for and the length of the loan is included in parentheses after each player’s name.

NWSL: 2025 USA TV/Streaming Schedule — Week 1, with Referee Assignments

The first weekend of the 2025 National Women’s Soccer League season kicks off on Friday, March 14. All fourteen teams will be in action.

In the USA, four of the seven matches will be televised. In addition to the Saturday ION doubleheader, ABC and ESPN 2 will each show a match, on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. All seven matches can be streamed live: Four via a free service (NWSL+ and ION) and three via a paid service (Prime Video and ESPN+).

The top two teams from last season, the Orlando Pride and the Washington Spirit will both be in action on Friday, with the Pride being featured on the first Prime Video broadcast of the 2025 regular season. Sunday’s lone match will be a SoCal derby between Angel City FC and the San Diego Wave.

2025 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship: Draw scheduled for March 26th, Costa Rica will host

The 2025 Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship, which will determine the confederation’s four representatives for the 2026 FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup, will be held from Thursday, May 29, to Sunday, June 8. Costa Rica will be the host, with all matches to be played at Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto, the home stadium of L. D. Alajuelense.

The draw is scheduled for Wednesday, March 26, at 11:00 a.m. EDT.

The eight teams that will play in the Championship are the United States and Mexico, which both had byes for the preliminary qualifying stage, plus the six group winners from the preliminary round: Canada, Costa Rica, Guyana, Nicaragua, Panama, and Puerto Rico.

Notably absent is Jamaica, which, along with the United States and Mexico, had participated in all previous editions of this tournament, including when it was designated as an Under-19 event in 2002 and 2004.

Based on the updated Concacaf Women’s Under-20 ranking, the pots should be as follows (with ranking points in parentheses):

Pot 2: Canada (3417), Costa Rica (2261)
Pot 3: Puerto Rico (1620), Panama (1278)
Pot 4: Guyana (1221), Nicaragua (953)

USWNT: The USA will play friendlies against China PR on May 31st and Jamaica on June 3rd [Updated]

Update (11-Apr-2025): The USA will only play China PR once, on Saturday, May 31. For the second match of the window, the USWNT will now face Jamaica, instead.

On Monday, U.S. Soccer officially announced that the United States Women’s National Team will play two domestic friendlies this spring against 17th-ranked China PR. The first match will be on Saturday, May 31st at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota, and will be followed by one on Tuesday, June 3rd at Energizer Park in St. Louis, Missouri.

The second match will feature a pre-game celebration for former USWNT captain Becky Sauerbrunn who retired from professional soccer in December 2024.

USWNT: According to TNT’s website, the USA will play China on May 31st

Update (3-Mar-2025): U.S. Soccer has confirmed that both the May 31 and June 3 matches will be against China PR. The actual start times for both matches differ from what was listed on TNT’s website.

The name and match time for the United States Women’s National Team’s sixth friendly of 2025 has apparently leaked via the website of the television channel TNT, which is owned by the English-language media rights holder for friendlies involving the USWNT, Warner Bros. Discovery.

According to TNT’s schedule of upcoming U.S. Soccer matches (www.tntdrama.com/ussoccer)¹, the USWNT will play the China PR Women’s National Team on Saturday, May 31, 2025, ~~at 6:00 p.m. EDT~~.

Neither U.S. Soccer nor the Chinese Football Association (website) have publicly announced any matches for the May-June international window. The two Brazil matches were previously announced in December 2024.

Additionally, TNT’s schedule also lists a second match for the May-June international window. That match is apparently scheduled for Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at ~~9:30 p.m. EDT~~. Curiously, the opponent for the second match is listed as “TBD” (to be determined), ~~which suggests that the USA will face China only once in that window and will play a different women’s national team on June 3~~.

Both matches are listed as being hosted by the USA.

Streaming: USWNT and USMNT matches will no longer be available on the Max “Basic With Ads” plan as of March 30, 2025

On March 30, 2025, Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max streaming service (www.max.com), will remove all live sports programming from its least expensive plan, “Basic With Ads”. Among the sporting events affected are international soccer friendlies involving the United States Women’s and Men’s National Teams.

Thus, for those in the USA who wish to stream friendly matches featuring the USWNT and/or USMNT, the options will be to either (1) switch to one of the more expensive Max plans or (2) watch the matches via NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service (www.peacocktv.com). One issue with the second option is that NBCUniversal has the Spanish-language rights, so those who prefer to watch the matches with English-language coverage would be best served by upgrading to Max’s “Standard” or “Premium” plans.

Viewers who are paid subscribers to Max’s “Basic with Ads” plan and move up to its middle “Standard” tier would need to pay an additional $7.00 per month to watch USWNT matches. Those who have free subscriptions to Max (e.g., through a DashPass membership or a Cricket Wireless Unlimited plan) would need to pay the full price for the “Standard” tier, which is currently $16.99 per month. For those in the latter situation, a Peacock subscription, which starts at only $7.99 per month, will likely be the more cost-effective option.
