For its third camp of the current cycle, the Under-16 United States Women’s Youth National Team will play two friendlies in Spain against its Spanish counterpart.
From the last U-16 camp, which was held in late January and early February, 15 players return. Among the returning players is Utah Royals forward KK Ream, who is the only professional named to the roster.
Two players who attended the first camp of the cycle return after not being named to the last camp: Forward Deus Stanislaus and defender Anaiah Williams. In late January, Stanislaus verbally committed to play collegiate soccer for the University of North Carolina (Instagram). A few months earlier, she changed her expected high school graduation year to 2026 (Instagram).
Five of the 24 players are apparently attending their first proper youth national team camp. Among those five is defender Marin Kotschau, whose younger sister, Reagan Kotschau, was called into the recent “overage” U-20 USWYNT camp”. Their father, Ritchie Kotschau (Wikipedia bio), is a retired Major League Soccer player who had one cap for the senior United States Men’s National Team (2024 USMNT Media Guide, page 122).
Carolina Reyna, who is also the daughter of both a former USMNT player, Claudio Reyna, as well as a former United States Women’s National Team player, Danielle Reyna (née Egan), has attended both of the previous camps this cycle. For this camp, Reyna is listed as a midfielder, which is a change from all previous youth national team rosters, where she was solely listed as a forward.
In addition to Ream, Reyna, and Stanislaus, seven other players who competed in the 2024 Concacaf Girls’ Under-15 Championship have been named to this roster. The most conspicuous absence from that roster is NJ/NY Gotham FC forward Mak Whitham, who was called up for the November 2024, but not the camp held earlier this year. Another notable absence is midfielder Caroline Swann, who was named the Best Player at the 2024 Concacaf Girls’ Under-15 Championship, and attended the previous two U-16 camps.
The youngest player on the roster is also the only one with a 2011 birth year: Midfielder Loradana Paletta, who also played for the Under-15 USWYNT at last year’s Concacaf Girls’ Under-15 Championship. The other 23 players were born in 2009 and are thus eligible for this year’s FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup, which has a birth year range of 2008 to 2010. (The regulations booklet for the 2025 to 2029 FIFA U-17 WWCs is now available from FIFA’s website.)
Outside of the five first-timers, just two players are attending their first U-16 camp this cycle. Both are forwards: Amari Manning, who was on the USA’s Concacaf Girls’ Under-15 Championship squad, and Daphne Van Der Weide, who was a named alternate for that tournament.
Leading the USA is head coach Ciara Crinion. The camp began on Tuesday, April 15, and runs through Monday, April 21.
The Spain Under-16 Women’s National Team will be coached by retired Spain WNT forward Laura del Río, who played professionally in the United States for a few years, in both the National Women’s Soccer League (with the Washington Spirit) as well as its predecessor, the WPS (Philadelphia Independence, Boston Breakers).
Match Schedule
Both matches will be live-streamed by the RFEF via their YouTube channel. After each match is over, a replay can also be watched via YouTube.

2024 Concacaf Girls’ Under-15 Championship Squad
From the USA’s 18-player roster for last year’s Concacaf Girls’ Under-15 Championship, 10 players were called up for this camp, along with two of the four named alternates. (The alternates participated in a pre-tournament training camp but did not travel with the team during the Concacaf Girls’ Under-15 Championship.)

Six of the above players were on the USA’s 2024 Concacaf Girls’ Under-15 Championship squad. Of the remaining three players — Hansen, Murray, and Volpp — only one, midfielder Grace Murray, was first called up to a proper youth national team camp this U-16 cycle.
Miscellany
Defender Meila Brewer was a guest training player at the March-April “overage” U-20 camp (x.com post by Brewer).
Earlier this month, defender Elena Vera was featured in a local news segment (KCRA.com).
Spain U-16 WNT camp roster
None of the players called up by Laura del Río have been significantly involved in Spain’s U-17 WNT. Thus, like the USA’s squad, this team is primarily focused on preparing to qualify for next year’s FIFA U-17 WWC.
Of the 24 players selected, over half come from just two clubs: FC Barcelona’s youth setup provided nine players, while Athletic Club (Bilbao) is represented by four players. Three additional clubs each have a pair of players: Real Betis, Real Madrid, and Orzán SD.
