The 2012 Under-17 Women’s World Cup, hosted by Azerbaijan, kicks-off on Saturday, September 22nd. Among the teams playing on Saturday are the United States in Group B (5:48 a.m. EDT, ESPN3.com) and Canada in Group A (7:48 a.m. EDT, ESPN3.com). Both teams face stiff opponents in their opening matches. For the United States, their opposition is France, who narrowly lost to Germany on penalties in the final of the UEFA Championship. Meanwhile, Canada will play Nigeria, the top team from Africa. The third team from CONCACAF, Mexico, begins group play on Sunday against New Zealand. The Under-17 Women’s World Cup Begins September 22nd: All Matches Will Be Streamed Via ESPN3

The 2012 Under-17 Women’s World Cup kicks off on Saturday, September 22nd. Every match of the group stage, along with all of the knock-out matches will be streamed online via ESPN3 on WatchESPN. The United States is in Group B and will face France, Gambia, and North Korea. Also participating are Canada, who are in Group A, and Mexico, who are in Group C. U-17 USWNT: Roster for the 2012 Under-17 Women’s World Cup Named

On August 29th, the United States Under-17 Women’s National Team roster for this year’s Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan was released by U.S. Soccer. From the team’s CONCACAF qualifying roster, the only player to not make the U-17 WWC roster was midfielder Sarah Robinson, apparently due to an unspecified “medical issue,” while centerback Claire Wagner and third goalkeeper Morgan Stearns were added. U-17 USWNT: Quick Updates on Jane Campbell and Sarah Robinson

In a new TopDrawerSoccer.com article on the United States Under-17 Women’s National Team, it was confirmed that starting goalkeeper Jane Campbell’s formerly unspecified injury is a knee injury and that she should be healthy in one to two weeks. Also, the article states that midfielder Sarah Robinson, who was not at the most recent camp, has an unspecified “medical issue”and will be unavailable for the Under-17 Women’s World Cup. U-17 USWNT: The USA Defeats China Twice In Its August Camp

In its final domestic training camp prior to this year’s Under-17 Women’s World Cup, the United States played China in two friendlies, winning both. The first match, on Wednesday, August 22nd, was a sub-par performance for the Americans, who conceded the opening goal but came back to win 2:1. However, the second match, on Saturday, August 25th, was a much stronger victory, with two goals scored in the first eight minutes and a final scoreline of 5:1. U-17 USWNT: Obligatory Follow-Up Article on the August Camp Roster

The official roster for the United States Under-17 Women’s National Team’s August camp (USSoccer.com) was released a couple hours after an earlier post here that listed an unofficial roster based on a published gallery of team photo portraits. All twenty-three players listed in the earlier post are on the official roster, with no additional players named. Not on the roster is midfielder Sarah Robinson who had apparently pulled out of the team in order to compete with her club at USYSA national championships.

During the camp, the U-17s will play their age cohorts from China in two friendlies: the first on Wednesday, August 22nd and the second, on Saturday, August 25th. Both matches will played at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California, and will kick-off at 3:00 p.m. local time. The friendlies are open to the public, with free admission.

After the camp, which runs until Sunday, August 26th, head coach Albertin Montoya will name the 21-player roster for the U-17 Women’s World Cup. U-17 USWNT: That August Camp? It’s Already Started.

The United States Under-17 Women’s National Team has gathered at The Home Depot Center for its final domestic training camp before the Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan, which kicks off on September 22nd. A news item has yet to be posted on USSoccer.com, but there is photographic confirmation of this camp in the form of a photo gallery of player and staff portraits at ISIPhoto’s website. ISIPhoto is the primary professional photography service used by U.S. Soccer. The list of players whose portraits were taken is included after the jump.

U-17 USWNT: Recap of Their Trip to Eastern Europe

At the end of July, the Under-17 Women’s National Team traveled to Croatia and Slovenia where they played three club teams and the full women’s national team of Slovenia, going 4-0-0. In the 2:1 win over Slovenia, the U-17s were without the services of three starters: goalkeeper Jane Campbell, star striker Summer Green, and energetic attacking midfielder Sarah Robinson.
