NBC Sports announced on Thursday that four USWNT alumni will be soccer analysts at the 2012 Summer Olympics in Great Britain: Brandi Chastain, Kate Markgraf, Cat Whitehill, and Angela Hucles. Combined, those four players have seven Olympic Gold Medals.
NBC’s press release also contained a list of play-by-play announcers, which includes veteran announcer JP Dellacamera who has called dozens of USWNT games, including multiple Women’s World Cups and the last two Olympics. Other PBP announcers who could call women’s soccer matches include Glenn Davis (who did the PBP for Universal Sports during the USWNT’s Olympic qualifying earlier this year in January) and Arlo White (NBC’s lead MLS play-by-play commentator), who will be doing the PBP for the USWNT’s friendly on June 30th, which will air on the NBC mothership (1:30 pm EDT, opponent is Canada).
Also, NBC will have reporter Drea Avent covering women’s soccer. Presumably, Avent will be traveling with the USWNT. Her Twitter handle is @dreaavent.
