Under-20 Women’s World Cup: TV and Online Information for the USA, Canada, and More

The Under-20 Women’s World Cup is just around the corner. The first match kicks-off Sunday, August 19th, at 2:00 a.m. EDT when Brazil clashes with Italy. Host Japan’s first match, versus Mexico, is actually the last one on Sunday, with a start time of 6:20 a.m. EDT. On Monday, the USA and Canada play their first matches, against Ghana (3:00 a.m. EDT) and Argentina (6:00 a.m.), respectively. (Full Schedule on FIFA.com)

The following is a quick summary of the TV and online options for those in the United States, Canada, and Europe.

FOR THOSE IN… THE UNITED STATES

All group matches involving the USA, host Japan, and Brazil, plus all knock-out matches will be televised live on ESPNU or ESPN2, and will be available on ESPN3 for live streaming and on-demand viewing. A few other group matches will also be shown live on ESPNU and ESPN3. Unfortunately, it seems that some group matches will not be available at all through ESPN’s networks, including the non-USA Group D matches, and two of three group matches for both Canada and Mexico.

United States Under-20 Women’s National Team Schedule:
August 20th, 2:55 AM EDT – Ghana vs. United States (ESPNU)
August 23rd, 5:55 AM EDT – United States vs. China (ESPNU)
August 27th, 2:55 AM EDT – United States vs. Germany (ESPN2)

FOR THOSE IN… CANADA

The CBC will show all of Canada’s matches live on CBC-TV and will stream those matches on cbcsports.ca (cbc.ca article).

Canada’s Group Matches (CBC):
Monday, Aug. 20 at 5:45 a.m. ET: Canada vs. Argentina
Thursday, Aug. 23 at 5:45 a.m. ET: Canada vs. Norway
Monday, Aug. 27 at 5:45 a.m. ET: Canada vs. Korea DPR

Other matches will be shown on SportsNet World, including all knock-out matches, except the final, which will also be shown live on CBC-TV. (SportsNet.ca) Presumably, should Canada get out of its group, those matches will also be shown live on CBC-TV, but the CBC.ca article is less than clear on that detail. Group matches involving Canada will also be replayed on regional SportsNet channels.
