2020 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship: Draw Speculation

With Caribbean and Central American Olympic qualifying concluded, the field is now set for the 2020 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship, which is expected to be hosted by the United States and is expected to run from January 28 to February 9, 2020 (per the Washington Post‘s Steven Goff – Twitter).

Joining the USA, Canada, and Mexico are Costa Rica, Haiti, Jamaica, Panama, and Saint Kitts & Nevis.  Of these eight teams, two will claim a ticket to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

This article takes a quick look at how the teams will most likely be divided into pots for the yet-to-be-announced group draw.

USWNT on TV: October 2019 Friendlies vs. Korea Republic

4-Oct-2019:  This post has been updated with additional USWNT injury details.

This Sunday, Jill Ellis will helm what should be her last match as the head coach of the United States Women’s National Team, when the USWNT plays 20th-ranked Korea Republic at Soldier Field in Chicago.  Prior to that, on Thursday, the USA will first host Korea Republic in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Both matches will be televised live, with Fox Sports 1 airing the Thursday match, while ESPN will have the Sunday matinee match:

Opponent Watch: Korea Republic Roster For October USWNT Friendlies Announced

Update (2-Oct-2019):  Forward Yeo Minji is a late scratch, as she did not travel with the team, per U.S. Soccer.

Earlier this week, the Korean Football Association announced a 24-player roster for the upcoming friendlies against the United States Women’s National Team, which will be played on Thursday, October 3rd, and Sunday, October 6th.  These two friendlies are expected to be the final USWNT matches helmed by Jill Ellis, who will be stepping down as head coach following those matches.

The times and TV details for those matches are as follows:

USWNT on TV: Friendlies vs. Portugal (29-Aug-2019, 03-Sept-2019)

The United States Women’s National Team’s Victory Tour for winning the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup continues this Thursday, in Philadelphia, with the first of two matches against 30th-ranked Portugal, followed by another match on Tuesday, September 3rd, in Saint Paul Minnesota.
