USWNT: More on Sermanni, Plus Confirmation of the Final Three ‘Fan Tribute’ Matches

On Monday, U.S. Soccer confirmed that the United States Women’s National Team will play China in its final three matches of this year’s Fan Tribute Tour. Those matches will be Saturday, December 8th in Detroit at Ford Field, which is a roofed stadium, Wednesday, December 12th at Houston’s new BBVA Compass Stadium, and Saturday, December 15th, in Boca Raton at Florida Atlantic University.  The December 12th match is now scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Central Time and, as already announced, will be broadcast live on FOX Soccer. TV information for the other two matches is not yet available.

The remainder of this post is a follow-up on news regarding the hiring of Tom Sermanni.

Last week, U.S. Soccer posted a five minute prompted talk by Sermanni (embedded below):

On Wednesday, Sermanni talked to the media via a conference call, of which U.S. Soccer has provided a long quote sheet.

Also, an Australian women’s soccer website, The Women’s Game, talked to Tom Sermanni last week and posted that interview on YouTube (embedded below).  The first 90 seconds and from about 5:05 to 8:30 are about the USWNT.

News articles worth a look include the AP’s follow-up on Sermanni’s hiring, US women can expect subtle changes under Sermanni (31-Oct-2012), Grant Wahl’s write-up of an interview he had with Sermanni (2-Nov-2012), and Wendy Parker’s take on the “on the hand-wringing over the hiring of a male coach for the [USWNT].”
