FIFA Women’s International Match Calendars For 2013 and 2014

Last week, FIFA posted a circular (#1330) online detailing its official calendars for women’s matches in 2013 and 2014. These calendars list the reserved date windows when club teams are required to release their players for international friendlies, official qualifying matches, and finals tournaments.

Notes (see the circular and FIFA regulations for more details):
1. “Women’s International Friendly Tournaments” essentially means the Algarve Cup and the Cyprus Cup.
2. Friendlies for which clubs must release their players can be held during any of the specified reserve date windows, not just the windows which are specifically listed as for friendlies. Conversely, official qualifying matches for which clubs must release their players can be held during friendly windows.
3. Clubs are not obligated to release players for more than ten international matches per calendar year, except when the additional matches are official qualifying or final tournaments matches.
4. Most of the reserved match windows are Saturday to Thursday, except for the two-day windows which are Saturday and Sunday only.
