CONCACAF WU-17: Mexico’s Final Roster (2012)

Earlier today (Friday, April 27th), the USA’s final group stage opponent, Mexico, released its final roster for the CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship, which begins on May 2nd. Of the 20 players rostered, 11 play for American club teams, including 10 who were born in the United States.

From the previous roster, six player were cut, including five who played for American club teams. The six players cut were Elisa Martin (goalkeeper), Stephanie Alcazar (defender), Maria Solis (defender), Paola Urbieta (defender), Anahie Duran (midfielder), and Micaela Estrada (midfielder). U-20 USWNT: April 2012 Friendlies Versus China’s U-20 WNT

In its first training camp since winning the CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championhip, the United States Women’s National Team played two international friendlies versus China’s U-20 WNT. In the first match, on April 12th, the USA scored four second-half goals in a 4:1 victory. On April 15th, in the second match, the USA won 3:0.

Only match reports from US Soccer and TopDrawerSoccer.com are available in-depth sources for these two matches, so this post is mostly a filtered summary of those accounts.

U-20 USWNT: Possible Opponent Highlights, Asian U-20 WWC Qualifiers

For the upcoming Under-20 Women’s World Cup, four teams qualified from Asia: Japan (hosts) plus China, North Korea, and South Korea. As there are only four groups of four in the U-20 WWC, these four Asian teams will probably be in the same pot for the draw, so the USA will likely have one of these teams in its group.

U-17 USWNT: CONCACAF Roster with Player Profiles

On Thursday, April 12th, US Soccer released the United States Under-17 Women’s National Team roster for the CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship, which begins May 2nd in Guatemala City, Guatemala. The twenty player roster includes all eighteen players who went to La Manga plus midfielder Joanna “Jo” Boyles and forward Darian Jenkins. U-17 USWNT: Opponent Update, Mexico’s Final Camp Roster

Late Thursday, Mexico’s Under-17 Women’s National Team released its final camp roster prior to the 2012 CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship. Twenty-six (26) players were called into a camp which began on Friday and will run until April 30th. After the camp, a squad of 20 players will travel to Guatemala for the CONCACAF Championship.

Six players will be cut from the roster: Most likely, one of the three goalkeepers and five of the twenty-three field players.
