USWNT: More on Sermanni, Plus Confirmation of the Final Three ‘Fan Tribute’ Matches

On Monday, U.S. Soccer confirmed that the United States Women’s National Team will play China in its final three matches of this year’s Fan Tribute Tour. Those matches will be Saturday, December 8th in Detroit at Ford Field, which is a roofed stadium, Wednesday, December 12th at Houston’s new BBVA Compass Stadium, and Saturday, December 15th, in Boca Raton at Florida Atlantic University.  The December 12th match is now scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Central Time and, as already announced, will be broadcast live on FOX Soccer. TV information for the other two matches is not yet available.

USWNT: The USA Draws 1:1 with Germany in Chicago

Saturday night, in front of a sell-out crowd of 19,522, the United States Women’s National Team drew 1:1 with Germany at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois. Abby Wambach scored the USA’s only goal in the 2nd minute when the Americans capitalized on a turnover deep in Germany’s half. USWNT: Notes Ahead of the Germany Friendlies

On Saturday, October 20th, and Tuesday, October 23rd, the top two women’s national teams in the world — #1 United States and #2 Germany — will face each other in a pair of friendlies.  The USWNT is bringing its Olympic Gold Medal squad, while Germany, who were knocked out of the Women’s World Cup by Japan in the quarterfinals, and consequently did not qualify for the Olympics, is in a rebuilding process as it prepares for the Women’s Euros in 2013. USWNT: Yes, Both Friendlies Against Germany Will Be Televised [Final Update]

FINAL UPDATE (18-Oct-2012): On Tuesday, USSoccer.com confirmed that the match in Chicago would be televised on Fox Soccer, with JP Dellacamera and Kate Markgraf in the booth.  On Wednesday, Arlo White tweeted that the second friendly would be on NBC Sports Network.

Update #3 (14-Oct-2012): Fox Soccer is also showing a replay of the first friendly on October 22nd at 5:00 p.m. EDT.

Update #2 (13-Oct-2012): The first friendly is again on Fox Soccer’s schedule.

Update (12-Oct-2012): As of sometime on Thursday, October 11th, Fox Soccer updated its online schedule. The first USA/Germany friendly is no longer listed. Instead, a UEFA Champions League Magazine show and a replay of the day’s Arsenal v. Norwich City are listed instead. Stay tuned…

Although, U.S. Soccer has yet to publicly confirm it, both of the upcoming Fan Tribute Series friendlies against #2 ranked Germany will be televised in the United States. The first match, on Saturday October 20th, which will be played at Toyota Park outside of Chicago, will be shown live on Fox Soccer, starting at 6:30 p.m. EDT.* The second friendly, on October 23rd, which will be contested in Connecticut, will air live on NBC Sports Network, with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. EDT.**

USWNT: The USA Defeats Australia 2:1 at The HDC

On Sunday, the United States Women’s National Team, in the second match of their Fan Tribute series, defeated Australia by a score of 2 to 1, via second half goals by Alex Morgan and Shannon Boxx (U.S. Soccer match report). The Matildas were quite dangerous in the first half, with at least two shots that rebounded off the posts, but an individual effort by the speedy Lisa deVanna gave the visitors a 1:0 half-time advantage.

USWNT: The USA Defeats Costa Rica 8:0 In Rochester

On Saturday, before a crowd of a sell-out crowd of 13,208 at Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester, New York, the United States Women’s National Team defeated Costa Rica 8:0 in the first friendly of the USA’s Fan Tribute Tour. In the match, Megan Rapinoe and Abby Wambach each scored twice, while Alex Morgan, Sydney Leroux, Carli Lloyd, and Heather O’Reilly also had goals.

Olympics: The United States Takes Gold, Canada Wins Bronze

On Thursday, the United States Women’s National Team claimed its fourth Olympic Gold Medal by besting Japan 2:1 in front of eighty-thousand spectators at Wembley Stadium. Carli Lloyd scored both goals for the USA, the first in the 8th minute, and then the eventual game-winner in the 49th. Japan got one back via the foot of Yuki Ogimi in the 63rd, but was unlucky to not have an earlier chance for the equalizer when an obvious-on-replay handling foul was not called on Tobin Heath in the 27th minute.
